'Crust & Ember Pizzeria started with a simple aspiration: to bring true Neapolitan pizza to London. Established by the Smith family in 1985, our pizzeria began as a small, family-run spot with recipes passed down through generations.
Oliver Smith, our founder, learned the craft of pizza-making during her journeys across Italy, studying under master pizzaiolos in Naples—the birthplace of pizza. Upon returning to the UK, she was determined to recreate the magic of genuine Italian pizza, using time-honored techniques and the finest ingredients.
What began as a modest 12-seat pizzeria has grown into a cherished local institution, yet our commitment to quality and authenticity has never faltered. We still rely on the same wood-fired oven methods, prepare our dough fresh daily, and source the highest quality ingredients available.
Today, 'Crust & Ember Pizzeria remains family-owned and operated, with the second generation of the Smith family now leading our enthusiastic team. While we’ve embraced some modern innovations, the core of our business remains the same: crafting delicious, authentic pizza that brings people together.
